Permissions and credits

Massive NPC Facelift Project aims to alter most of the NPCs' appearances throughout the land of Skyrim *DLCs not included. USSEP (Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch) included. Such as Followers, Marriage Candidates, Essentials, Beast Races (Khajjit, Argonian,) Elves, Orcs, Miners, Civil War Leaders, Jarls, Farmers, Guild Members, Wizards, etc. NPCs are altered based on numerous factors like backstory, status, voice, and morphology. My goal is to keep the Vanilla style, drastically changing the NPCs to look more naturally attractive without the need to apply anime or makeup-like characteristics (aesthetics, anime hairstyles, etc.) as the og developers intended. This mod aims to make the NPCs look originally part of the game from the beginning.

*Important NoteIt is recommended but not really requiredto update your FNIS after installing this mod, cause this Mod changes the way that the women of Skyrim move. Instead of moving around like men, they will now use the appropriate female animations. This affects ALL female NPCs that currently use male animations like Lydia for instance. However, if you are starting a new save completely, then you aren't really required to do so. If you install the mod during a game, not all NPC's will be affected by the change of animation right away. As time goes on, the changes will eventually kick in. It takes a little time for the game to register the changes. If you choose to uninstall the mod during a game, the changes will take time to take effect and the NPCs will return to their original vanilla animations and clothing.

In either case, though, you won’t do your game any harm, just appearances are changed and this mod should work with most and all mods as this mod uses only vanilla assets, appearances only (tint skin, morphs)USSEP Patch and DLCs is REQUIRED.

egpants, who allowed me to update his mod and fix the bugs as well to go with USSEP. He retired from modding. This mod has been tested in multiple playthroughs, however, if you encounter any problems please message me about it. And I'll try and fix it in the next update.

What exactly does this mod change?

Rather than listing every NPC that was changed, you have to believe me that nearly 600-700 or more have been redesigned in Skyrim.Such as Followers, Marriage Candidates, Essentials, Civil War Leaders, Jarls, Farmers, Guild Members, Wizards, etc. All are USSEP supported. Meaning the USSEP Patch is required. As well as the DLCs.
I am a fan of the Elder Scrolls Lore and this mod makes some characters fit more to the lore and art style with the vanilla Skyrim.

For Ex. There are small improvements to make the NPCs consistent with the story-line or Lore. But. this in turn made me add new NPCs in the game but only in Sovngarde. For Ex.You the player will discover a Dead Corpse in the Imperial Fort, Ralof will say, "We will meet again in Sovngarde, brother." But he is no where to be found. Also, Lilija Snow-Shod was mentioned to be killed in the Civil War but was never shown in Sovngarde. I want you to discover what is hidden in Sovngarde, nord characters you probably met in previous titles, but wondered why they are not there. Also some of the OG members in Sovengarde do not look like their statue or dead counterpart. So I made it more to their original.

INSTALLING
*Side Note: It is important to know that this mod couldconflict with other mods that change the same characters. Not compatible with other mods that overhaul the NPCs likeEthereal Elven Overhaol (EEO). This is compatible with mods like Bijin or RS Children Mod if you load these after my mod. In addition, NPC retexture skins/bodies and armor editing mods are fine as this mod uses only vanilla assets. When in doubt, put this low on the load order *Usually I load this mod at the very end to ensure to avoid any grey heads that I encounter. It's compatible with Bijin Warmaidens, NPCs, and Wives when you load these and overwrite after this mod.

Manual Installation

    1. First, install the required files by following the instructions on the download page.
    2. Extract the files to a temporary location.
    3. Copy/paste all the files into your Skyrim data folder. Normaly: Steam/SteamApps/common/SkyrimSpecialEdition/Data
    4. Launch Skyrim and before you click on "Play" click on "Data Files" and make sure that the plug-in is checked and move it to the bottom of the list.
    5. Play the game.

    *Important Note

it is recommended to "wait" or play several hours in order for the NPCs to change clothes, otherwise, you might encounter a rare random NPC's walking naked. If they still do not wear their clothing as intended, go to the console by clicking "~" and then click on the NPC and type disable. Then enable again. With NMM
For Nexus Mod Manager simply click the “Download with Manager” button and activate the mod to initialize the installer. Make sure to move it at the bottom of the load order or below other mods like UFO.

UNINSTALLING
This mod luckily doesn't affect your game all too much if it is uninstalled. As it only changes the appearances of the NPCs.Manual Uninstall

2. Delete all the files from your Skyrim data folder.Uninstall with NMM
1. Simply open NMM and double click on the mod to uninstall.

FAQ
Q: Why are NPCs frozen?
Should fix and update your FNIS, which usually remedies all T animation issues.Q:A lot of NPCs appear to be pale or grey head
A:If you are using another mod that changes the NPCs in any way those NPCs will be overwritten to their original look. It is highly recommended to load this last to avoid this issue. I could recommend downloading this mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42441This mod prevents the game from discarding tint data, so when errors are encountered, it will regenerate faces with correct colors.Q:A lot of NPCs don't have that cool armor in that screenshot...what gives?
A:I did alter some NPC's clothing but using only Vanilla Based Assets. These mods replace the clothing and armors for NPCs, such asWARZONES 2015.2 - Civil UnrestandImmersive Armors
Q:I experience CTDs when I installed this.
A: Make sure to read the requirements, This mod requires USSEP and the DLCs to work. Also it is unlikely this mod will cause issues, as it only alters the NPCs appearances, and nothing else.Q:Is this mod compatible with Ethereal Elven Overhaol (EEO)?
A:Since both mods are changing elf NPCs they will directly conflict. Depending on the load order one mod will overwrite the other. The elves in Skyrim have been altered as well. If you want, you could install skin texture mods that also can change the elves skin.Q: Are you going to implement Apachi Hairstyles and EEO?
A: Despite me loving Apachi Hairstyles for my own characters, marriage candidates or followers, I feel like it should not be applied to every NPC, as some hairstyles make NPCs look likeglamoroussupermodels rather than believable characters. Which destroys the purpose of having a vanilla and lore friendly mod. Like how can a old farmer have some kind of anime-like hair? Also it doesn't work well with NPCs who wear helmets (baldnessissue). EEO is on the works, however.
