Gen Zers are known for working, shopping, dating, and making friends online; in Asia, Gen Zers spend six or more hours per day on their phones. Digital natives often turn to the internet when looking for any kind of information, including news and reviews prior to making a purchase.
Gen Z is a generation that has been characterized as having a notoriously short attention span. The average attention span of an individual in this demographic is said to be around 2.7 minutes, which is significantly shorter than the attention spans of previous generations.
In 2023, the Gen Z trend is towards more personalized and socially conscious brands. Their spending habits reflect a preference for brands that align with their values and utilize their preferred Generation Z social media platforms.
Data shows Gen Z workers report more struggles than the general population with hostile work environments, mental- and physical-health issues and even the inability to share one's full self in the workplace.

Gen Z pivots away from TV
US adults ages 18 to 24 spend less time watching traditional TV than any other age group. They're the only age group to already spend under an hour per day watching, and much of that time is spent browsing the internet at the same time.
As the second digitally native generation, Gen Alpha will adopt technologies like smartphones and social media even faster than Gen Z. 36.0 million Gen Alpha consumers will be internet users this year, exceeding those in the 18-to-24 and 12-to-17 age brackets, according to our forecast.
Preferred genres
In their efforts to find more diverse stories, 83% of Gen Z readers bypass traditional books altogether and turn to webcomics, indie publishing, serialized fiction, and webnovels to get them (or make it themselves). They're also reading more of any genre compared to previous generations.
Gen Z moms feel less confident.
They put more emphasis on being the "perfect mom" compared to Millennials, and they strive to reach more parenting ideals, from keeping kids busy to owning the scheduling for the entire family.

They're known to set boundaries
Some may call them lazy or work shy, but in reality, Gen Z are just really good at setting boundaries. Like really good. Having a work life balance is paramount for this generation. 72% of Gen Z are protective of their work-life boundaries.
How old are Gen Z in 2023?
Members of the Gen Z years were born between 1997 and 2012. So as of 2023, the Gen Z age range is anywhere from 11 to 26. They are commonly referred to as the first fully “digitally native” generation. They grew up with social media and smartphones—they're used to living in a digital-first world.
And it looks like Gen Z is indeed shaping up to be a homebody generation as well: Looking at their favorite activities by age, 13-18-year-olds are the most likely to say they “go out with friends” for fun in an average night, but playing video or mobile tops their list, followed by watching TV or movies.
Generation Z uses about five different screens: a smartphone, tablet, laptop, TV and desktop. According to an IBM study, 75% of Gen Zers selected their smartphones as their device of choice.
The biggest mental health issue Gen Z deals with is anxiety. Nine out of ten Gen Z with diagnosed mental health conditions struggle with anxiety, and nearly eight out of ten (78%) are battling depression. Other mental health conditions the generation faces are ADHD (27%), PTSD (20%), and OCD (17%).
Gen Z, at 8%, it four times more likely than baby boomers to have ever been diagnosed with ADHD, which was not a common diagnosis when baby boomers were young.
Gen Z workers, aged between 18 and 26, make up about 35% of those wanting to quit, while millennials (aged 27 to 42) are another 31%.
